REQUIREMENTS: We are looking for participation from a diverse group of partners and volunteers. Participating individuals must have a red card.

REGISTRATION: Please fill out the google form at the link below to express your interest in participating. Food and lodging will be provided for participants.

THANK YOU!

WE LOOK FORWARD TO BURNING WITH YOU.

MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC

Join our guided field tour as a Prescribed Burn Observer

The Forest Stewards Guild and the Mt. Taylor Ranger District of the Cibola National Forest invite you to join us for a guided field tour of the prescribed burn and restoration work being carried out on the Zuni Mountains landscape. Forestry and fire practitioners will respond to your questions and share information about how the burn is being implemented, what we hope to accomplish, and the implications for resilience in the forested landscape.

If you have an interest in forest health in the Zunis, wildfire risk mitigation, ongoing restoration efforts, or are curious about what goes into a prescribed burn but lack the necessary training to be involved first-hand, please join us! Observers will be escorted on the burn by qualified personnel.

DATE: Tuesday, October 19th

SAFETY: Participants will be provided with appropriate personal protective equipment to safely visit the burn site.

REGISTRATION: Please sign up, using the google form below, to receive more information about the field tour.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST.

Zuni Mountains Prescribed Fire CFRP

This prescribed burn and field tour are part of the ongoing Zuni Mountains Rx Fire Collaborative Forest Restoration Project (CFRP). Over the past decade, the Forest Stewards Guild, the Mt. Taylor Ranger District, NM State Land Office, and various other partners have collaborated to restore socioeconomic and ecological resilience to the Zuni Mountains. While success has been realized in accomplishing restoration treatments using mechanical means, there is a backlog of acres in need of prescribed fire. This project will contribute to putting good fire on the ground to build ecological resilience on the landscape.
